Quang Le: “My Next Fight Could Decide My UFC Future”
As Noche UFC 3 approaches this weekend in San Antonio, Vietnamese-American featherweight Quang Le is preparing for what could be the most important fight of his career. The Minnesota-based fighter, originally from Bien Hoa, Vietnam, is set to face undefeated newcomer Santiago Luna Velazco in what will be his fourth appearance inside the UFC Octagon.
The spotlight of Noche UFC 3 will shine brightest on the main event clash between Diego Lopes and Jean Silva, with bantamweight contender Rob Font also in action on the co-main. But for Vietnamese MMA fans, all eyes will be on Quang Le as he seeks another statement performance — and potentially a contract renewal.

Speaking with thefightfeed.com, Le revealed the stakes are higher than ever:
“This is the last fight on my current UFC contract. If I get another win, I believe I can secure an extension and keep building my career here,” Le explained.
A Sudden Change of Opponent
Originally scheduled to meet David Martinez, Le was informed just a week prior that he would instead face Santiago Luna, a 21-year-old Mexican prospect known for his aggressive boxing and wrestling.
“I found out last Tuesday. Luna fights differently — he presses forward with boxing and wrestling — but I’ve fought similar opponents before,” Le said. “It doesn’t change too much in my preparation.”
Luna enters with an unblemished record, finishing all of his pro wins by knockout or submission. While some might see this as a disadvantage for Le, he believes the late switch could actually favor him.
“Luna was just waiting around, training hard but without a specific opponent. I’ve had a structured camp, and that matters. Plus, he’ll have to cut weight on short notice. His last fight in my division was over a year ago — making weight won’t be easy.”
Pressure on the Newcomer
For Le, fighting on the main card is not new territory. In contrast, Luna will be making his debut under the bright lights of a packed Texas arena.
“The pressure is on him, not me,” Le emphasized. “It’s his first UFC fight, in front of a huge crowd, on Mexican Independence weekend. I’ve been there before. I’m comfortable.”
Le, who submitted Gaston Bolanos in his last outing with a slick rear-naked choke, is confident his grappling will be the key once again.
“He’s good at wrestling, but he’s been taken down before. I have more experience in submissions. If I can bring him to the ground, I’ll have the advantage. Even if I don’t, just forcing him to think about it will open up other opportunities.”
Prediction for Fight Night
Asked about how he envisions the fight playing out, Le gave a measured but confident answer:
“Luna is tough. If I finish him, I see it happening late in Round 2 or early in Round 3.”
For Quang Le, victory at Noche UFC 3 means more than just another win on his record. It could cement his future in the UFC, extend his contract, and further establish him as one of the faces of Vietnamese MMA on the global stage.
